Start your day with a tour on the coach to the many stunning coastal lookouts including Smokey Cape Lighthouse lookout & the Riverbank where the Macleay River meets the sea. A morning tea break during the morning before stopping at Arakoon State Recreation Area and historic Trial Bay Gaol. It was the first Public Works Prison in Australia opened in 1886 and later held German internees during World War 1. Once behind the walls, the atmosphere takes you back in time as you imagine how harsh life would have been. Lunch will be provided before a visit to the fully restored Boatman’s Cottages. The past comes to life in the maritime history display in the Cottage adjoining the Information Centre in the centre of the Village. It is a free choice this afternoon to explore the Village shops or even take a walk along the main beach or relax at the Motel.

Day 3 Port Macquarie
Upon arrival in Port Macquarie visit the unique Koala Hospital, the only one of its kind in NSW. Meet the caring volunteers who nurse sick & injured koalas back to health. The hospital has 200 to 300 admissions each year. Enjoy a self-guided of this fascinating hospital. You may notice signs requesting a donation to support the work here. We have already pre-paid a donation on behalf of the Coach Group. Around mid-day board the Essence for a lunch cruise on the river. The Hastings River, with its wide expansive waterways is the perfect backdrop for some dolphin spotting. Today you are sure to enjoy this peaceful & informative cruise with a light lunch provided as you pass by the modern canal developments & oyster leases. After the cruise, enjoy a brief coach tour around Port Macquarie

Day 4 The Slim Dusty Centre & Gladstone
After a morning tea stop on the way visit the new Slim Dusty Centre this morning near Kempsey. The Slim Dusty Museum features collectibles and images from the Kirkpatrick family’s own extensive archive, as well as contributions from friends from all over the world. The display provides an insight into Slim Dusty’s first steps into show business, the early years of adventures with wife Joy and their mates touring the towns and villages of Australia’s outback. See the costumes, the images of Australian life, the music of some of Australia’s finest musicians and the insights into Australia’s vast history and geography that only Slim and Joy’s sixty years on the road can provide. Lunch will be provided here before an interesting stop at the quaint scenic village of Gladstone alongside the River as you return to South West Rocks this afternoon.
