Join us as we share the delightful journey we recently embarked on—a peaceful week-long retreat to the enchanting town of Montville. As the new owners of Coach Holidays & Tours, we were excited to join our travellers on this memorable holiday and to now share all the best bits with you! Imagine rolling hills, the gentle rustle of leaves, and a village straight from the pages of a storybook. Montville, you truly captured our hearts!
If you would like to experience Montville for yourself, we are currently taking bookings for our trip on 26th May 2024. Click here to book now, or read on to see what we got up to!
Day 1 – Journey North
The first day of our trip was a relaxing start to our journey, cruising north in our luxury coach. We enjoyed a mid-morning break at the service centre where we could grab a coffee and stretch our legs. We stopped for a delicious lunch at the Nabiac Hotel. We had a delicious dinner & comfortable accommodation tonight Opal Cove Resort in Coffs Harbour.
Day 2 – Upwards To Montville!
After a hearty breakfast, our journey north continued through to through to the stunning Mountain Village of Montville. Not before stopping for lunch at Tropical Fruit World. After lunch we treated ourselves to some fresh fruit ice cream after lunch, custom blended to our tastes. With so many fruity flavours available, I chose mixed berry with strawberry & starfruit – it was simply delectable! We were warmly welcomed at the Montville Mountain Inn with time to settle in before dinner. We were blown away by the incredible food and service at the Bar & Grill at the Mountain Inn.
Day 3 – Montville, the Blackall Ranges Hinterland & Maleny
This morning we explored some of the surrounding hinterland & a visit to Maleny & Mary Caincross Park, an amazing sanctuary of 52 hectares of original subtropical rainforest. It remains as one of the few remnants of subtropical rainforest growing in optimum conditions on flat deep basalt soils in a high rainfall area. We took in the spectacular views of the Glass House Mountains before a delicious lunch. On return to Montville we had time to explore the wonderful range of stores, and relax with a coffee opposite the Motel, enjoying the unbelievable views over the Sunshine Coast to the east.
Day 4 – Ginger Factory, River Cruise & Noosa Heads
This was personally my favourite day of the trip! We visited the world’s largest Ginger Factory. We got to ride the boat ride, there is also a train ride or a tour of the factory that you can do. We had time to look around and purchase some gingery treats. The ginger scones were mouth-watering and highly recommended! Onto the famous Eumundi Markets to pick up a bargain or two before Tewantin at the headwater of the Noosa River, we joined the beautifully restored Ferry for a scenic & informative cruise down to Noosa Heads. It was perfect weather, and everyone enjoyed the relaxing Stillwater journey down the Noosa river. It truly was a fantastic day out. We enjoyed a packed lunch on board the cruise. In the afternoon, we visited the famous Hastings Street & took a short stroll along the beach front as we soaked up the holiday atmosphere of this seaside paradise before heading back to the peaceful hinterland & Montville.
Day 5- Australia Zoo
A day everyone was looking forward to – a visit to Australia Zoo! An extraordinary & enduring legacy of the “Crocodile Hunter” the late Steve Irwin. Committed to worldwide conservation through the Wildlife Warriors foundation, we experienced wildlife action & adventure like nowhere else in the country. Birds, snakes, tigers, tortoise, cheetahs, elephants & the amazing crocodile show plus so much more. A truly exciting & memorable day at Australia Zoo.
Day 6 – The Journey Home
With 2 days of travel ahead of us, it was refreshing to know that the relaxation and fun continued on the ride home. We enjoyed a Fish & Chip Lunch at the Byron Bay RSL today. The weather was fantastic, and it was a beautiful day to experience this gorgeous seaside town. We were warmly welcomed back to the Opal Cove Resort in Coffs Harbour for one more night before heading home in the morning. Our final group dinner was delicious, and we had a peaceful night’s sleep.
Day 7 – Journey Home
We had a comfort stop for morning tea to stretch our legs and purchase a coffee. We enjoyed a roast lunch at the Nabiac hotel lunch which was a nice hearty meal that we could digest with a rest on the ride home. An afternoon comfort stop allowed us to get some fresh air before being dropped back to the pickup location, taking with us wonderful memories and some new friends!
